Benton County: 2024 Drug Take Back Event. 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Parking Lot of Kalapuya Building, 4500 SW Research Way, Corvallis. The Benton County Sheriff’s Office is hosting a Drug Take Back Event on Saturday, April 27, 2024, from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm. This event allows the public to safely dispose of expired or unused medications. This is a one-day, drive-thru event at 4500 SW Research Way, Corvallis. Those interested in dropping off at this location are asked to enter the parking lot off Research Way and follow the signs and directions of the volunteers. Corvallis Tweed Ride 2024: “Tour de Trees”. 2nd & Washington Ave. Corvallis. 10 a.m. Free. Please join for the 10th annual Corvallis Tweed Ride on April 28, 2024. Last Sunday Family Comedy Show @ Common Fields. Common Fields, 545 SW 3rd St., Corvallis. 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. $5 cover. Common Fields is excited to bring family friendly comedy to Corvallis. Once a month on the last Sunday of the Month, there will be an amazing line up of 3-4 comedians making you laugh with their clean comedy. PRAx Presents: Las Cafeteras. Detrick Hall, 470 SW 15th St, Corvallis. 6 p.m. $5, $17 – $33. The electric sound and energy of Las Cafeteras has taken the music scene by storm. Using traditional Son Jarocho instruments like the jarana, requinto, quijada (donkey jawbone) and tarima (a wooden platform), Las Cafeteras sing in English, Spanish, and Spanglish and add a remix of sounds, from rock to hip-hop to rancheras. Las Cafeteras play music as a vehicle to build bridges among different cultures and communities, creating “a world where many worlds fit.” Their Afro-Mexican beats, rhythms and rhymes deliver inspiring lyrics that document stories of a community seeking love and justice in the concrete jungle of Los Angeles. Directing at The Majestic Workshop. Majestic Theatre, 115 SW 2nd St., Corvallis. 6:30 p.m. – 9 p.m. Majestic mainstage proposal season is just around the corner! Join Recreation Coordinator of Cultural Arts and Community Engagement (and prolific director) Rachel Kohler for a workshop aimed at anyone who’s ever had even an inkling of interest in directing at The Majestic Theatre! If you’ve directed before but it’s been awhile, or you’ve never directed on the Majestic mainstage, this might be the workshop for you! If you’ve never directed, but you’re thinking you might like to learn more about it, this is definitely the workshop for you. Rachel will walk through every step of the process of directing on the Majestic’s mainstage, just in time for participants to consider proposing for the 2025-26 season. Much of the information presented in this workshop is applicable for Majestic Lab shows, too! This workshop will take place on Monday, April 29th from 6:30-9:00pm in the Community Room.
